Never on Facebook, dear

There are some crazy activities you should never do on Facebook. Here are some of them.

Password so easy. The most obvious is using a weak password. Avoid simple names or words, even with numbers tacked on the end. When you signed in for an account, you might remember being graded as "weak", meaning your password was too easy to identify.
Facebook suggests that you mix upper- and lower- case letters, numbers, and even symbols and it should have at least eight characters. For example, if your password is periwinkle, insert "smoke screens", such as pE3ri7w00i&nKxle. Now, the problem is remembering that! Here are other things to remember:

Use privacy controls. For everything in your Facebook profile, you can limit access to only your friends, friends of friends, or yourself. Restrict access to photos, birth date, religious views, family data, etc. Don't put out contact info, and address.

Be careful with captions. Don't use your child's name in captions or photo tags. If someone else does, delete it by clicking on Remove Tag.

Don't post 'on vacation'. Saying you'll be away from home is like putting a "no one's home" sign on your door. Just take that vacation. Wait until you get home to tell your friends about that trip.

No to strangers. To help prevent strangers from accessing your page, go to the Search section of Facebook's privacy controls and select Only Friends for Facebook search results.

Supervise kids. The youngest age allowed by Facebook is 13. If you have a child using Facebook, the best way to provide friendly supervision is to become his online pal. Use your e-mail address as the contact for their account.

Enjoy Facebooking! :)
